Job market situation February 2026

The registered unemployment rate was 6.1% and increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month and by 0.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year.

  • The average employment in the enterprise sector1 in February 2026 amounted to 6398.1 thousand and, like in the previous month, was 0.8% lower than a year ago (compared to a decrease of 0.9% in February last year).

  • The deepest year-on-year decrease in average employment in February this year concerned mining and quarrying (amounting to 3.6%). Among the analyzed sections, employment in the manufacturing industry was also lower than a year ago (by 1.4%), in the production and supply of electricity, gas, steam, and hot water (by 1.1%), in transport and storage (by 0.9%), in information and communication (by 0.8%), in administration and support services (by 0.7%), in real estate services and in trade; and repair of motor vehicles (a decrease of 0.5%), as well as in construction (by 0.2%).

  • On the other hand, in terms of year-on-year, employment in water supply; sewage and waste management; and remediation increased (by 2.9%), in accommodation and food service (by 2.5%) and in activities related to culture, entertainment, and recreation (by 1.9%).

  • The registered unemployment rate was 6.1% and increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month and by 0.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year.



  • In February this year, 31 companies planned to lay off 5.3 thousand workers. The scale of planned layoffs was greater than in the previous month and than a year ago. By the end of February this year, 170 companies reported the intention to lay off 19.8 thousand workers as part of planned collective redundancies. The registered unemployment rate was 6.1% and increased by 0.1 percentage points compared to the previous month and by 0.6 percentage points compared to the same period last year.
