GUS: labor market July 2026
The unemployment rate in July 2026 was 5.8%. The average salary increased to PLN 9,509.02 gross, and employment fell by 0.8% y/y. Check the CSO (GUS) data!

In July 2026, average employment in the enterprise sector amounted to 6,378.9 thousand people, which represents a decrease of 0.8% year-on-year (in the corresponding period of 2025, a decrease of 0.9% was recorded).
The annual decrease in employment affected most of the analyzed sections. The deepest reduction was recorded in mining and quarrying (by 8.3%). Decreases above the average for the sector also occurred in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (1.8%) and in manufacturing (1.3%). On the other hand, year-on-year employment growth was maintained in water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (by 3.5%), as well as in accommodation and food service activities (by 1.7%).
At the end of the month, 906.4 thousand unemployed persons were registered in labor offices – this is 0.5% more than in June and 9.1% more compared to July 2025. The registered unemployment rate remained at the level of the previous month and stood at 5.8% (an increase of 0.4 percentage points y/y).
In July, 99.7 thousand new unemployed persons were registered (an increase of 19.0% m/m and a decrease of 8.1% y/y), while 94.7 thousand people were removed from the registers (a decrease of 3.5% m/m, but an increase of 27.0% y/y). The intention to carry out group layoffs was declared by 27 enterprises (covering 4.7 thousand employees) – this represented an increase in the scale of planned reductions m/m with a simultaneous decrease y/y. In total, at the end of July, 172 enterprises planned to lay off 22.4 thousand people.
The average monthly gross wage and salary in the enterprise sector1 was established at PLN 9,509.02. Wages and salaries increased by 6.8% on an annual basis (for comparison: in June the growth rate was 5.9%, and in July last year 7.6%). The real purchasing power of wages increased by 3.6% on an annual scale (compared to an increase of 3.3% a month earlier and 4.6% a year ago).
